Our Motorcycle Adventure Guides

Motorcycle tour guide Darren FloodDarren Flood Is the owner of Alpine Sands, and an avid motorcyclist with 24 years of experience both on and off road. He is 36 years old. Darren started out on the back of his Dad’s 1976 Honda XL 125 dirt bike on the rough terrain of East Africa’s back roads. As soon as he was tall enough to touch the pegs he was off. He was hooked after that and has had a passion for bikes ever since.

Darren's expert military honed navigation skills and ability to adjust routes based on your abilities are why people trust him to lead their expeditions. His favorite touring bike is a venerable BMW GS. For off-road oriented dual sport runs he’ll lead you on his KTM 640 Adventure. For those of you daring to bash through tough country on dirt bikes you can test your machine and abilities against his Suzuki DRZ 400. No matter what your favorite type of riding is, Darren will adjust and accommodate your needs.

Motorcycle adventure guide Traci Schalow.

Traci Schalow is one of the best sport and technical riders of our group. She has ridden and raced on and off-road most of her life. While superbike racing for seven years on 600 supersport and 250 GP class, Traci held a regional class championship and made great pack filler racing AMA Pro Formula 250 Class. Traci decided to give up road racing for dirt, finding it more interesting, a lot more fun, and less money. She now primarily rides a KTM200 and a CR250x.

Traci still has a thirst for racing and quenches it with occasional enduros and hare scrambles. Her primary road bike is a Honda CBR600 F4, and she like her Suzuki DRZ 400 for dual sport rides. She is experienced as a guide on off-road tours for CycleFest and was a former instructor for MRA (Motorcycle Road-racing Association) new rider racing program. Traci will earn your respect as your guide, and treat your group to the experience of a lifetime.

Alpine Sands guide Dwayne Hall.

Dwayne Hall is one of our most requested guides because of his uncanny ability to progress from canyon carving, to ripping up fast forest access roads without batting an eye. Tight two-track and jeep trails pose no threat to Dwayne and his BMW GS. He will show you how to navigate your beast through a myriad of terrain types.

A native of Colorado, Dwayne has traveled the west extensively both on and off-road. His passion is evident through his service oriented guiding. Dwayne is 44 years old and started riding motorcycles at the age of seven, mainly on single track trails throughout the front range of Colorado. At the age of nineteen he began competitive trials riding, and continued for many years. Now he rides for enjoyment and the thrill of leading others on adventures. His two favorite rides include a 97 BMW R1100GS and a 96 HONDA XR600.

Alpine Sands guide Bicky Lemmon.

Rebecca Lemmon has been riding road bikes for fifteen years. More recently, she was introduced to dual-sport riding, and has been hooked ever since. While she can hold her own on fast, curvy roads, she prefers a more leisurely pace to enjoy the beauty of our region. Becky is 39 years old. She loves the outdoors, and often spots wildlife before anyone else. Her current favorite ride is a BMW F650, followed by a Suzuki DRZ 400, and for cruising, a Honda Shadow VLX. She has completed the AMA Advanced Rider Safety Course, and is a member of Women On Wheels, a national women's riding group. Rebecca is generally the requested guide on our women only tours.
